On August 11, 2010 the Edmunds Law Firm received written notification of a favorable decision made by the Administrative Judge in a security clearance matter.  The hearing for this matter was held in Tampa, Florida, on April 22, 2010.  In this case, there were security concerns pertaining to Guideline E – Personal Conduct and Guideline F – Financial Considerations.  The evidence showed that the Applicant was questioned about his gambling habits and initially denied he gambled.  Applicant modified his response when shown the CTRC reports.  Applicant had filed for bankruptcy following extensive gambling debts he and his girlfriend acquired during a time period of 1994-1997.  Applicant’s financial situation was fully rehabilitated following bankruptcy and had no negative accounts or collections on file. Attorney Edmunds was able to demonstrate through witness testimony and documentary evidence that the Applicant was trustworthy, and met the eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Upon consideration of the evidence presented, the Administrative Judge found that it was clearly consistent with the national interest to grant Applicant’s security clearance.
